Mason ready for last ride





It only feels like Farren Mason has been at Robert Morris since the dawn of the football program.


In a sense, Mason is unique in his experience. A 2006 graduate of Gateway High School in Monroeville, Pa., Mason is likely one of the oldest players in college football at 24 years old. He spent the 2007 football season at Milford Academy in New York before arriving as a freshman at RMU in 2008.


After redshirting his freshman year, Mason earned the starting job at defensive tackle to start 2009, only to severely injure his knee three games into the season. He spent much of 2010 working his way back into the rotation before returning as a key cog in the middle of the line last year with 24 tackles, a career high.


Now? Mason is part of a three to four man rotation at tackle that includes seniors R.J. Cook and Sam Miller, as well as rising junior Henry Jartu.
