ColonialsCorner's Chris Cappella caught up with freshman corner Marcelis Branch to talk about his adjustment to Division I FCS football, Robert Morris, and becoming a starter just two games into his college career.

Q: What's the change been like from your home in Florida to Pittsburgh? A: Cold weather, it's cool though.

Q: Why did you come to Robert Morris? A: Full scholarship, pretty much that. My mom couldn't afford anything else. But it's a good school too.

Q: What's been the biggest difference from the high school to college game? A: The speed. It's faster; you have to get your checks in, know your plays, all that.

Q: What's your style as a cornerback? A: I'm aggressive. I played both safety and corner in high school.

Q: Which one did you like more? A: I'm leaning towards safety because I like to hit people.

Q: Is there one persons game you like to look after to try and take things away from them? A: I like Sean Taylor a lot, and I also like Darrelle Revis.

Q: Why them? A: Sean Taylor was so physical, I like that, and Revis can play any style, he's the best at what he does.

Q: What's your attitude on the field? A: Always positive, no matter what. If I make a bad play, a missed tackle, get the ball caught on you, just look past it.

Q: What do you think your role is on this team? A: My roe isn't a big one yet. Just do my job and let everything take care of itself.

Q: What do you consider your strengths on the football field? A: Being stronger than most players. Just, my mind, knowing I can stick anybody.

Q: What do you feel like you still need to improve on? A: Footwork, turning my hips at safety, stuff like that.

Q: Who do you think your biggest influence has been on the football team? A: Coach Hurley, our DB coach, he taught me a lot already.

Q: What are your expectations for yourself? A: To start. Become a freshman starter, work on that, and get at least three picks this season.

Q: What about your team? A: I want to win every game this season. I hate losing with a passion.
