David Cole: What you need to know

Robert Morris, like several teams in the NEC, have lacked a skilled, interior big man for a couple of seasons now. Next season, the Colonials might have two. We already know about seven footer Braden Burke, but the name that RMU fans might not know yet, but soon will: David Cole.

David Cole hails from New York City and is a 6’7” long and athletic forward that can play both ends of the floor. Cole is soon to be a graduate of Christ the King Regional High School. The New York native had offers from Central Connecticut, Wagner, St. Francis Brooklyn, Fairfield, and Manhattan. So why Robert Morris?

“When I took my visit to Robert Morris, I loved how the coaches and players were real to me. There were no fake feelings or actions. When I hung out with the players, they didn’t do anything crazy. We were all in a room playing games or either listening to music and joking around,” Cole said.

David Cole received his first collegiate offer after his sophomore year of high school and since then, he hasn’t looked back. Cole ended his senior year on a high note, averaging a double-double, showing his versatility as a scorer and an above-average rebounder.

“I am really strong. I can move around the basket and I feel like I’m a great inside presence in the paint,” Cole stated.

David Cole will look to contribute in any way he can during his freshman year. The Colonials are coming off of a forgettable season and Cole hopes to be a part of something special while at Robert Morris.

“I know next year we will be ready to go,” Cole said confidently.

He’s already familiar with a couple of his fellow incoming freshman, such as Clive Allen Jr. and Braden Burke. “Braden is really cool so far and Clive is a close friend of mine. We are from the same state,” Cole added.

As far as current players, Cole noted that Matty McConnell and Steven Whitley as two guys he’s built relationships with since committing to play in Moon Township.

He is especially excited to work with coach Toole, who he says will bring out the best in his game.
